We were able to travel to Nome for the finish of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race this year. Our stay coincided with the week of Iditarod festivities. Nome is always bustling with different events for locals and tourists alike.  We had the chance to participate in the Iditarod Open Mic Night at the Bering Sea Bar and Grill. The girls helped me add some percussion to my original “Iditarod Song.” We loved sharing our Tundra Berry Jams with the Iditarod fans.

What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday than to dress as the Cat in the Hat.  Since I was busy reading to kindergarteners as their favorite character in the afternoon, I did not have time to change for choir practice.

So I embraced the costume and mood and we celebrated Dr. Seuss’s Birthday at choir practice too.  We were just missing Thing 1 and Thing 2.  We had a great time as you can see.  The students were happy to sing with me. I put the costume away until next time and now I am finished with my silly rhyme!

My littles joined in for the fun at the Anchorage Folk Festival on January 21. I believe the last time we all played together, the older one sat in the audience on auntie’s lap and the younger one was in my belly! We sure had a blast and I was pleased with their bravery. More performances to come I am sure!
